Greetings from the Amazon Jungle, and Happy Thanksgiving!
We pray this letter finds you prospering in the Lord. This Thanksgiving we’re reminded of just how blessed we are. We are so thankful for each one of you who make the work here possible. God has truly supplied all our needs, and we know He will continue to do so. We pray this Thanksgiving you can stand with us and say “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want”.
A piece of exciting news……We have an opportunity to plant a new church in Punchana. We have found a piece of land, with a building on it, which for the time being we can use for services. We need to raise $1,500 dollars to purchase this property. We have a brother in one of the churches here who has been serving as Associate Pastor, and he’s ready to place in his own church. We believe this is an opportunity the Lord has provided. This property is in the middle of a residential area, and there is no other church close by. It is in an extremely poor area, where most people don’t have the money for transportation to be able to attend a church that is not within walking distance. We are asking that you prayerfully consider being a part of seeing this new church established.
Thank you for your prayers for the government and the new President of Peru. We have a more specific request in this area. We have a mission here, that has been well established since 2002, Iglesia Sobre La Roca, and we have been working on securing permission from the Peruvian government to have residents live under our mission. When we first started this process, the only thing needed was filing the proper paperwork, and paying the normal fees. Two weeks before our paperwork was finalized, they put into affect a new law that said you had to be a mission in good standing for 7 years before residents could live under your mission. So we waited the 7 years. We have had similar circumstances for the past 2 years, with the final blow coming this past week. They have now decided that we need to have over 10,000 active members in our churches before we qualify. This new law not only affects us, but every church and mission in Peru as well. There are no churches that large in all of Peru. This law would effectively take away every legal right any mission or church has in Peru. (Another mission here in Peru has been kind enough to allow us to live here under their mission, this new law affects them as well.) A government official told us last week that they recognize this new law is unjust, and they are working to change it. He said they should have a ruling on it by the first of January. If this law were to stand, every missionary in this country could be forced to work here on visitor’s visas, which would only allow you to be in the country for 6 months out of the year. We need your agreement in prayer, that this law will be overturned. We’re asking God for Iglesia Sobre La Roca to be given full rights for residents to live under our mission.
As you can see, the two items topping our prayer list are an opportunity to plant a new church, and the enemy’s attempt to slow down this work. We are not the least bit discouraged by this, in fact quite the opposite. It’s when we are about the Father’s business that the enemy tries the hardest to stop us. If the enemy weren’t chasing us, we would have to stop and wonder if we were on the right track! Our God is able, and will watch over His Word to perform it, the gospel will be preached in all the world!
Thank you so much for standing with us in the work here. We truly appreciate each of you who have stood with us during the past 15 years. You’ve made the work possible. If you’ve not had an opportunity to support this ministry with your finances in the past, we would like to invite you to be a part, we would certainly welcome your support. Together we can do more for Him! You may send your tax deductible donations to:
